First annual Mighty Maverick Muscle Run a huge success!

July 8, 2025

More than 200 people came out for the first annual Mighty Maverick Muscle Run in Lebanon, Ohio, on June 28, 2025. Those in attendance and many at home helped the event raise more than $35,000 to fund research to help children with Sanfilippo Syndrome like Maverick.

“We truly can’t express with words how overwhelmed we are by your support. The first annual Mighty Mav Muscle Run blew our expectations WAY out of the water, and we could not have done it without each and every one of you. We are awaiting the official tally, but we do know that we had over 200 registrants and raised over $35,000! That is just truly incredible,” posted the Lana family on Facebook after the event.

Maverick Lana just turned 3 years old and was diagnosed with Sanfilippo Syndrome last year. His parents Tristan and Autumn decided to host the Mighty Maverick Muscle Run to honor Maverick and support research to cure Sanfilippo Syndrome.

In comments to the 200+ race participants, Tristan shared, “Cara [O’Neill] and her husband Glenn [O’Neill] [who founded Cure Sanfilippo Foundation] actually were some of the first people we spoke with, the day after the diagnosis. They were incredibly helpful, empathetic – they’ve bene through this journey – and they connected us with the many resources that were out there … They connected us to a list of clincial trials. We were so aggressive and reached out to eveyr single one. Thanksfully, got screen at a trial in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.”
